I was reminded the other day of a trick to get rid of hiccups my parents had taught me when I was younger.

A couple of minutes ago, Sara tried it after having hicups for about 5 minutes and it worked.

This is what you do. Get a glass and fill it with water. Get a kitchen knife (not like a steak knife or anything - just one of those regular dull knives you use for butter or whatever)... Put the knife in the glass so the handle (not the sharp part of course) is sticking out of the glass.

Then, you drink the glass - the top of the handle of the knife will rest on your forehead (so basically, you'll have to tilt your head back as you drink the glass of water).

It seems to clear it right up - something about opening up the passageway or something. And it's better than asking someone to scare you.
